National Honor Society

Martin J. Eichorn chapter of the National Honor Society

New members of the National Honor Society are selected in the spring based on four characteristics: scholarship, service, character and leadership. A faculty committee makes the final selection from members of the sophomore and junior classes. Each month members participate in community, as well as social, activities such as a food drive, volunteering at the Anne Arundel County Food Band, costume parties, and movie night. NHS members serve also as tutors to other South River students. Each year the NHS sponsors a breakfast with Santa Claus for neighborhood children. Finally, the NHS serve as ushers and guides at many school events.
